Popular Science Launching in Australia

New York, N.Y. – Bonnier Corp.'s Popular Science will soon be available down under. Beginning in October, Australia will become the seventh country to publish Popular Science, the fifth largest magazine in the United States for men. This latest expansion outside the U.S. follows the April launch of a Spanish-language version of Popular Science in Spain.

Since the formation of Bonnier Corp. in March 2007, the company has been expanding its titles to other countries and launching U.S. versions of popular foreign titles. Bonnier Corp.'s Science Illustrated was launched in the U.S. based on Bonnier's Scandinavian title Illustreret Videnskab.

"We publish over 150 magazines worldwide, and many of them have international potential. By developing magazine licensing, we hope to increase our international businesses substantially over the next few years," says Anders Malmsten, International Publisher for Bonnier Corp. Malmsten heads up Bonnier International Magazines, which is developing the strategy for licensing Bonnier magazines and their content.

"Popular Science fills the great need for science and technology content in these international markets," says Gregg Hano, Publisher of Popular Science. "International publishers have been quick to recognize the relevancy of Popular Science and the role we fill in bringing knowledge-based content to curious and sophisticated readers. Clearly, we are a leader in the category."

In addition to Australia and Spain, Popular Science is also published under license in Israel, China, Korea and Russia. Founded in 1872, Popular Science is the world's largest science and technology magazine, with a circulation of 1.3 million. Each month, Popular Science delivers "The Future Now," reporting on the intersection of science and everyday life with an eye toward what's new and why it matters.

Bonnier Corp. (www.bonniercorp.com) is one of the largest consumer-publishing groups in the United States and is the leading media company serving passionate, highly engaged audiences, with more than 40 special-interest magazines plus related multimedia projects and events.
